Things to consider before getting an electric car charging station at home.

Before installing an electric car charging station like an Ohme charger at home, there are several important factors to consider, including:

  • Where your car will be parked and the charger's location
  • The type of EV charger you want
  • The charging speed you need
  • Installation costs
  • Selecting an EV chargepoint provider

These considerations will help you determine if your home is suitable for an EV charger and which type will best meet your needs.

Electric car charging FAQs.

No, hybrid (HEV) cars don’t need to be plugged in for charging. Instead, they recharge their batteries using energy from the engine and regenerative braking while driving. As they are hybrid-powered cars, this means that they can also be powered with fuel through their internal combustion engine.

This means you can keep driving without worrying about finding a charging station, and the car automatically manages the battery power for optimal efficiency.

A self-charging hybrid is another term for a hybrid car.  It’s a car that is powered through a combination of petrol or diesel, and regenerative braking.

This means that you don’t have to connect hybrids or “self-charging” hybrids to an external power source to charge them.

This figure will vary depending on the car that you have due to the different sizes of batteries that they have, as well as the type of charger being used. Based on our electric car models such as the KONA Electric and IONIQ 6, it can take from 4 hours to 7.5 hours to fully charge an electric car1.
