  • Sales in Korea rose 32.6% to 52,102 units
  • Sales outside of Korea increased 2.5% to 248,146 units
  • Will focus on various measures to recover sales momentum around the globe

SEOUL, March 2, 2021  Hyundai Motor Company today announced its 2021 February global sales of 300,248 units, a 6.7 percent increase from a year earlier. Sales momentum is gradually recovering around the globe.

Korea Sales

Sales in Korea rose 32.6 percent year-over-year to 52,102 units, led by Grandeur sedan, Elantra sedan and all-new Tucson SUV. Sales increased in part because production in February was normal compared to the same time last year when there was a production disruption amid the initial spread of COVID-19. Sales of Genesis luxury brand more than doubled to 7,321 units from 3,200 units a year earlier thanks to robust sales momentum of G80 sedan and GV70 SUV.

Overseas Sales

In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai recorded sales of 248,146 units, a 2.5 percent increase from a year earlier. Although the global economy slowed down due to the pandemic, sales in major regions, including the Americas, Asia Pacific, India and Russia, are gradually improving.

Hyundai will focus on sales recovery in global markets amid continued concerns over the global economic crisis. The company is implementing various measures to take care of its customers and to offer the world’s best products to meet their needs.

In line with these efforts, Hyundai has successfully premiered IONIQ 5, its first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV). The company expects it will provide new sales momentum in 2021.
