SINGAPORE, July 19, 2024 – Hyundai Motor Company today launched the sleek, aerodynamic made-in-Singapore electric vehicle (EV) sedan, the IONIQ 6, at the HMGICS. Following the production of the award-winning IONIQ 5 and the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, this is the newest model of the Hyundai IONIQ line-up to be produced with its proprietary automated and intelligent cell-based production platform.


The made-in-Singapore IONIQ 6 will be locally produced at HMGICS, reinforcing Hyundai’s efforts towards offering EV options that are aesthetically and performance-driven and contribute to the green mobility landscape in Singapore. As Singapore’s first and only EV production smart facility, HMGICS provides for highly flexible production in Hyundai’s made-in-Singapore EV models, from the IONIQ 5 to now the IONIQ 6 to meet and cater the needs of diverse types of drivers in Singapore. In addition, a data-driven intelligent production process using advanced technologies such as AI, Robotics, and Digital Twin brings a production to flexibly demand and interact with customers and respond to their needs with agility, ensuring exceptional quality products.

Following the success and interest in the IONIQ 5 and the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, we are pleased to launch our next made-in-Singapore EV, the IONIQ 6, through HMGICS’s advanced manufacturing technologies with AI, Robotics, and Digital Twin. The IONIQ 6 marks another step in our efforts to introduce new, customized mobility experiences with our various stakeholders in the EV ecosystem. Introducing Singapore’s electrified streamliner


With its global release, the IONIQ 6 had swept a series of awards like its predecessor, including World Car of the Year 2023, World Electric Vehicle of the Year 2023, and World Car Design of the Year 2023. As the IONIQ brand’s first EV sedan, the IONIQ 6 provides a customized experience for both work and play.


Hyundai’s latest EV offers enhanced features and a new high-quality experience for drivers seeking the best in innovation, design, and sustainability. Its advanced performance is clear – it boasts an innovative streamlined silhouette in an EV, with aerodynamics at 0.217 CD and an AER of up to 614 km (WLTP). The IONIQ 6 also offers customizable EV performance tuning for different driving conditions. Designed to enhance daily life, the IONIQ 6 features a, cocoon-like interior that uses the latest technologies for a safe and enjoyable driving experience.


The IONIQ 6 will deliver a more unique driving experience with innovative design, optimized space, new performance. Equally loaded with technology and aesthetic features, it is the now the second model to feature Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), allowing for ample interior space not only for passengers but luggage.


Local production of the IONIQ 6 at HMGICS offers Singapore customers an expanded variety of four trims, namely Inspiration (77 kWh, Cat B), Prestige (77 kWh, Cat B), Prestige (53 kWh, Cat A), and Exclusive (53 kWh, Cat A). HMGICS has introduced a long-range Prestige (77 kWh) 2WD model that boasts a range of up to 614 km (WLTP), compared to the 519 km (WLTP) of the AWD version. This provides car buyers with the best of both worlds: long-distance capability and performance.


Unique to the made-in-Singapore car, local production also allows for enhanced connectivity features like Bluelink connectivity with Connected Car Services and OTA software updates. With Connected Car Services, the made-in-Singapore IONIQ 6 will deliver seamless connectivity through online voice recognition and a wide range of features for a more convenient and enjoyable driving experience. The OTA vehicle software updates also provide the newest improvements as soon as they are released. Features like the latest maps and infotainment features can be updated wirelessly and synchronized at a push of a button, reducing dealership visits.



Supporting the EV lifestyle in Singapore with enhanced charging solutions


Hyundai continues to collaborate with its partners to roll out enhanced charging solutions to increase ease, convenience, and accessibility of EV charging, a key concern for drivers adopting EVs in Singapore. Updated charging solutions will be made available for customers with the made-in-Singapore IONIQ 6.


For home charging at private estates, Hyundai and Schneider Electric, the leading AC charger provider in Singapore, will offer and industry-leading three-year product warranty to introduce the latest home charger that comes with an extended cable length. This will allow users easy access to charging, regardless of the parking position.


Mobile charging provider P.UP continues its partnership with Hyundai to provide five charges a month, up to 12 months. It will also provide complimentary 12 months emergency rescue service, with emergency charging, 12V battery replacement, and towing for up to two times per year. This provides more flexibility and peace of mind for drivers in their charging schedules.


Hyundai customers also have the option to leverage destination charging services from Charge+ charging network in Singapore and the region – now expanded to now provide charging coverage areas to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Hyundai also welcomes the partnership with Singapore Power Mobility (SPM), an additional EV Charge Point Operator (CPO) to provide destination charging services for its customers, enhancing convenience.


In total, Hyundai Flexible Charging Credit has expanded its partnerships with 17 CPOs to enhance customer service coverage throughout the entire island.
