How far can an electric car go?

There are a range of factors that affect the total electric driving range of your electric car such as battery size, your driving style, the outside temperature, the number of passengers you carry, and more.

Our electric cars are ready to take you on any adventure. Understand the factors that affect your electric car range and how you can maximise its capacity for your next journey.

    Driving style.

Your car's energy consumption will vary depending on your daily drive, whether on the motorway or around the city. Your driving style and the speed you drive at will impact your total electric range and how far you can go on one charge.

    Outdoor temperature.

Whilst you can't control the weather it will have an impact on the range of your electric car. Low temperatures, particularly in the winter, require greater energy consumption as does using the air conditioning when it gets hot.

    Battery size.

The capacity of your electric battery will determine the total miles your car can cover on one full charge. An electric car's battery will have a greater capacity as opposed to a plug-in hybrid. This is why electric cars typically have a greater electric range.

    Vehicle load.

Some of our electric cars have towing capabilities, however, a heavier car requires more energy to move. Additional weight in the form of a full roof box or attached trailer can deplete your battery quicker.

Pre-condition.

You can pre-condition your electric car with the Hyundai Bluelink® App, setting the car to an optimum temperature before you get in. This will save you from turning the Climate Control to a high setting and preserving energy.

Heat pump.

By managing your car it will be ready to drive in all conditions. Thanks to the heat pump, the cabin gets heated without drawing on the high-voltage battery. Whilst in hot weather the cooling seats help you get comfortable without extreme setting of the air conditioning.
